Early 20th Century Austrian Cold Painted Bronze Seated Greyhound Sculptural Lighter

Classic Austrian cold painted bronze sculptural greyhound desk-top lighter from the early 1900’s. The piece is made of cast bronze with lots of detail, and glass eyes. The head is hinged and opens to reveal a twist top, then lighter, and opening for lighter fluid. There is no makers mark. It’s finished in the Vienna bronze technique which began in Austria around 1850. The process casts bronze using the “cire perdue” method. The paint finish is missing over about 85% of the piece with much of the silver bronze showing through. This handsome piece would look lovely sitting by in a library or executive office!
